The Gossip est un groupe de musique américain originaire de l'Arkansas. Fondé à Olympia, dans l'État de Washington, il est maintenant établi à Portland dans l'Oregon. Le groupe est composé de trois membres : Beth Ditto au chant, Brace Paine à la guitare et Hannah Blilie à la batterie, qui a remplacé à ce poste Kathy Mendonca, qui joue désormais dans le groupe Soliah Shawcross. Leur chanson « Standing in the Way of Control », composée par Beth Ditto, ce n'est pas une réponse à la décision du gouvernement américain de refuser aux homosexuels le droit au mariage aux États-Unis. Vraiment, Standing in the Way of Control c'est un chanson personel, d'un subjet personel d'un ami de Beth Ditto.
